A work that explored a single sculptural system comprised of two behaviorally-distinct computational systems, each seeking to maintain its own sense of balance in relation to its partner system. The vise is actuated to open and close based on light emitted from the CCFL bulb. When the light is bright, the vice wants to move closer to it. The light, on the other hand, wants the vice to be close but not too close, and dims its light when the vice approaches past a certain point. All of this happens quickly (ideally), leadling to a situation where both entities are seeking a balance that is now maintainable given the desires of each.

An exploration of range of motion and kinetic algorithms for an emergent flocking piece I have been working on.

Working with text as a symbolic system of implied meaning, but disregarding actual semantic content. A reading lamp that reads, functionally responding to its environment in a unique and intentional manner. This idea is part of a larger number of embodied everyday objects that I am currently working on.
